Bo bounces back!

Bo, a two-year-old cat (pictured left), came into the practice recently after being hit by a car. Bo was very shocked and in a lot of pain initially and couldn’t move her tail or either of her hind legs. The outlook was very worrying and we felt that it was likely Bo had suffered a nasty spinal or pelvic fracture. Bo’s owners were extremely concerned for her welfare and also understandably anxious over the potential cost of treatment, which they were warned may go into four figures.
On arrival, Bo was immediately given high-level pain relief and then radiographed (x-rayed) to assess the extent of her injuries. The radiographs amazingly showed no sign of any fractures or internal damage, which was a huge relief but the clinical team were all still concerned that the damage to the spinal nerves might be irreversible.
Over the course of the day we kept up with Bo’s pain control and against all probabilities Bo started to improve. By the following day Bo was able to stand and walk a few steps, although she was still very bruised. Bo was discharged 48 hours after admission and was able to walk. The following week Bo came in for a final check and was almost back to her normal self.
Bo is an amazingly lucky cat, but she has definitely lost one of her nine lives! Bo’s owners were overjoyed to get her back so quickly and have vowed to get her insured as soon as possible. This way if she gets into mischief again they need only worry about Bo and not have the added stress of finance.
