Puppy farming

If you were watching GMTV this morning, you might have seen the distressing item regarding ‘puppy farming’. The RSPCA and Frank, a beautiful Mastiff, launched the campaign and footage was shown of RSPCA officers undercover in puppy farms, revealing the disgusting conditions in which these dogs are kept. Frank was fortunate enough to survive not only being bred in dreadful conditions in a puppy farm, but also the life threatening illness parvo virus and eventually find a loving new home.
Sadly he was one of very few lucky ones, as the film showed.
I am sure I am not alone in being astonished that puppy farming is not illegal. Both the RSPCA and Dogs Trust have launched major campaigns to highlight this horrible trade. For more information, and what to look out for when buying a puppy, have a look at the links below.

The beautiful chap pictured above is one of many lovely puppies and adult dogs needing homes in rescue centres around the country.
Why not send us pictures of your dog, maybe out on a lovely walk or enjoying their favourite treats? Include a few words and we will put them on the blog!
The RSPCA are having their Open Day at Braypool Sports Field, London Road, Patcham, Brighton, BN1 8ZH on Sunday 13 July 2008 and many local charities, including Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service, will be there. The fun starts at 10.30 am.
