Book of Remembrance

Juno in CornwallThe loss of our beloved pets is a traumatic event, sometimes made worse by the feeling that we cannot show we are upset as others will think ‘it’s only an animal’. For most of us, however, our pets are a large part of our family and their loss leaves us very grief stricken.

At Grove Lodge, we have staff trained to help you with your bereavement, so please do feel you can call us and ask for help in dealing with your loss.

I thought it would be a nice idea for everyone to share some happy stories about their loved ones in a ‘Book of Remembrance’, so we can smile at the lovely memories our pets gave us. Please send me an email on abigail@grovelodgevets.co.uk and include a picture. I will be posting them on the blog and look forward to reading about your pets’ fun times! Pictured is my much loved German Shepherd, Juno, who we sadly lost almost 2 years ago. Here she is standing on her favourite beach in Cornwall, enjoying the sun and surf. She absolutely loved swimming - almost as much as she loved sausages and barbecues! We still miss her very much, but we have such wonderful memories of her great life.

Dogs Trust also have some very useful advice and information on their website regarding the loss of your dog.
