blackie-wadarsFollowing the wonderful response to the Spring Walk for WADARS (Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service), we are organising an Autumn Walk for WADARS! The walk will start from the car park at Highdown Hill on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 11 am.

If you read the Worthing Herald yesterday, you will have seen an article regarding two adorable young dogs, Blackie and Timmy, who WADARS have taken in recently. Check out the video of our very own Mark Pertwee too! Blackie was brought to us as a stray following a road traffic accident where she had suffered a dislocated hip and fractured pelvis. Timmy was abandoned and brought to us as a stray, limping badly. Xrays revealed he had an old fracture of his front leg which had been left untreated. Sadly, the break had healed incorrectly and little Timmy’s leg could not be saved but he is now happily hopping about on 3 legs. As he is only 5 months old, he will adapt quickly to his disability.

timmy-wadarsNo one could resist either of these cuties, with their happy and sweet dispositions and thanks to WADARS they now have the chance of a wonderful new life. However, both these dogs have had, and will continue to have, very lengthy and expensive medical treatment.

In the spring we raised nearly £1100 – WOW – our challenge is to beat that!!

Ask your friends, family, acquaintances – strangers in the street even – to sponsor you! Alternatively, ask them to join in by paying a minimum of £5 on the day and help raise money for our wonderful local charity.

I think everyone who joined in last time would agree it was a brilliant event and not too terribly strenuous – I look forward to seeing everyone there! Only severe weather will deter us, so dig out your waterproofs if the weather looks particularly English!!
